With all of these kiddos running around in spooky costumes at the end of the month, knocking on your door for candy, you want to make sure that yours is visible even in the dark– especially if your little one is dressed in a dark costume! This is a simple tutorial on how to make a cute Trick or Treat Bag that will be visible to cars!
2 Yards of Orange Reflector Tape
First cut your both pieces of fabric in half so you have 4 pieces that are 18″X22″. Then cut your 2 yards of reflector tape in to 4 18″ pieces.
Pin your reflector tape about 4″ from the bottom on both sides of the outside of the bag.
Sew both sides into place.
You Should now have 2 pieces that look look like this:
Now we are going to sew the outside of the bag together. With right sides together sew all the way around the side, bottom and the other side.
Repeat the same step for the lining of the bag.
Now, with right sides together insert the lining into the outside of the bag like this:
Now use the other two pieces of reflector tape for the straps. Pin the strap between the lining and the outside of the bag with the reflector right side facing the outside of the bag’s right side. Repeat for both sides of the bag.
Now stitch around the top of the bag leaving a 3 inch gap to pull the bag through.
Here is where I left the gap:
Pull the bag through to the right side. It should look like this:
Tuck the orange lining into the bag:
Now top stitch around the top of the bag to close up the gap and finish the bag.
Now you’re all finished!!
This is a great easy project that you can make for your child, grandchild or even your niece or nephew!
